Quality Assurance

Our building standards and codes require certain levels of performance to be achieved. Aspects of compliance cover a whole range of elements such as fabric thermal performance, heating systems, primary fuel sources, ventilation types, system control, fenestration, ventilation, and increasingly renewable technologies.

BDME provides SAP calculations to support Building Warrant applications for new build projects.  This work requires to be undertaken by qualified and accredited energy assessors and assessors must also be part of a membership scheme.  Membership schemes are authorised by the DCLG and have very strict operational guidelines, auditing procedures, and codes of professional conduct.  BDME is authorised as an accredited energy assessor under the STROMA scheme.  This scheme extends to providing a portal to the government database where EPCs can be formally lodged.  Buildings cannot be passed for completion until a properly lodged EPC is made available.

ATTMA is a body which looks after and authorises people to operate as air tightness testers.  In a similar way to SAP calculations and EPCs, air tightness testers are subject to stringent scheme regulations and levels of professional conduct.  As with EPCs, completion cannot be achieved without the necessary air testing certification in place.

Holding accreditation to STROMA and ATTMA allows BDME to provide the appropriate level of design, testing, and certification services to support client projects.
